Into The Forest
You're not just surviving the fog, you're shaping it into something meaningful. Keep going—your light will only grow brighter!
Yes I've started with how I plan to finish this post but stick with me I hope its worth it
Finding Light in the Fog
Right now, I’m sitting on the floor with my legs crossed, feeling like I’m in the middle of a dark, foggy forest. It’s the kind of fog that clings, heavy and unyielding, like it’s been there forever and plans to stay. The forest is quiet, almost eerily so, with just one single match flickering in the darkness, casting a faint, fragile glow.
That tiny light feels like hope. The fog may be dense right now, but I know it will clear. It always does, even if it takes longer than I’d like.
In the midst of this mental forest, my small business has become that precious bit of light. It’s my single match—tiny, yes, but warm and powerful in its own way. Creating things has always been an outlet for me, a way to process the fog. When I’m elbow-deep in designing, crafting, or whatever the day’s work entails, I find myself breathing a little easier. It doesn’t erase the fog, but it distracts me from it, giving me a reprieve whilst expanding my field of view in the fog..
The funny thing about making something with your hands is that it forces you to be present. Each stitch, stroke, or carefully crafted word pulls you out of the haze, just a little, and grounds you in the here and now.
My small business isn’t just about selling something tangible; it’s about creating something that gives me purpose when my thoughts feel scattered. It reminds me that I’m still capable of creating beauty, even in the darkness.
Demanding focus and presence, whilst pulling me away from the chaos in my mind and into the here and now. For me, running a small business isn’t just about selling products or hitting milestones—it’s about creating space for myself to breathe, reflect, and rediscover the light. Every project I complete feels like another small match struck in the darkness, adding to the warmth and guiding me closer to clarity.
Of course, it’s not always easy. Running a small business comes with its own challenges: deadlines, uncertainty, and the ever-present worry about whether it’s all “good enough.” Add the weight of the fog, and there are days when the overwhelm feels insurmountable. But then I remind myself why I started. Each creation, no matter how small, is a victory. It’s proof that even in the toughest moments, I’m still moving forward.
And it’s not just about me. Seeing something I’ve created go out into the world—to bring joy, comfort, or inspiration to someone else—feels like a connection formed through the haze. It’s a reminder that the things we create have the power to reach others, even in our most vulnerable moments.
Which is why I always say find something that resonates with you, be it when picking a gift for yourself or a loved one
I don’t know when this fog will lift completely—it could be tomorrow, or it could take much longer. But I’ve learned that I don’t need to have all the answers right now. All I need to do is keep striking those matches, one small creation at a time. That tiny flame, though fragile, is enough to push back the darkness a little further each day.
And eventually, the forest will clear, and I’ll find myself standing in the sunshine again. Until then, I’ll keep going. The fog won’t last forever.
To all my fog buddies
You’re not just surviving the fog; you’re shaping it into something meaningful. Keep creating, keep shining—your light is already brighter than you think
